::This place is a scam. I booked through expedia.com and i buy extra full insurance coverage. I arrive at my pick up location and this dude says go get your passport and then i will talk to you. Very rude. I ask a few questions and then he says i need 230 dollars insurance mandatory for 3000 deposit or 350 dollars with 300 deposit. For a trip i bought full coverage for. That is between you and them he said. Too bad he lost the business. It says i might be liable for insurance on the reservation which i thought i got but obviously it is more expensive than the car rental itself that i got for 55$. Amazing how they do business.

::This company is the worst rental company I have used in Costa Rica and their practices are likely borderline illegal. In the past year I rented vehicles from Avis, Enterprise, Alamo, and Mapache rent a car, all of them in Costa Rica. In October 2020 I decided to rent a particular model to test it out for a month (Suzuki Jimny new model). I did my research and found that particular model at only 2 rental companies, due to the pandemic other companies were only using a small portion of their fleets. I called two weeks in advance locked in a ~$800 rate, asked if I could use my credit card insurance from Chase the representative said yes, I made sure to sent them a letter from my bank stating that my Credit car covers the cost of the vehicle in case of an accident. Everything seemed to be in order. I arrange to go pickup the vehicle (2 hour drive) and when I get there the guy said it was company policy for me to take the mid range insurance because my credit card DID NOT HAVE NUMBERS (laser printed cards). Since I had no way of going back home I had to take that insurance and it cost double $1600. Other companies such as Avis, Mapache, Enterprise, Alamo do not have such ridiculous policies. Mapache is a small local company I suggest trying to rent from them at some point. I also had great experiences with Avis and Alamo in Costa Rica. I highly recommend to stay away from Payless. The experience left me feeling conned. I would imagine such practices will become illegal at some point if they aren't already

::This company is a scam. We booked a car for a month through Expedia for about $1000, and when we got down there they told us the price on Expedia was wrong and the actual price was $2700 and intimated us into paying it. The car rental place is 15 min outside the airport and not easy to get to. Do not go here, they will rip you off.

::Do not use this company it is fraud!!! I made a reservation to rent a car for 1 week which was confirmed for 22 dollars yet when we arrived from the airport they told us its 460 dollars plus 3000 dollars for deposit in cash which is crazy. The manager was useless and did not help, actually he knew its a scam and told us we have to rent it anyway and laughed. Never to return here
