::Terrible. Stay away. They will try to put all kinds of extra costs, and will sell that to you as an advantage (fuel, for example). Lots of scams. Look for another place to rent you car and enjoy Costa Rica (which is an amazing country).

::SCAMMERS! STAY AWAY FROM AVIS! My friend and I rented a car with Avis through rental cars for our 2 week trip to San Jose, Costa Rica for $177CAD and ended up getting persuaded into paying an additional $1255CAD when we picked it up. We questioned the price with them but were exhausted and eager to start our trip as they had kept us waiting for an hour. When we returned the car we asked for a break down because we knew there must have been mistake made but they refused. They laughed at us, started claiming they couldn’t speak English once the issue arose, and shrugging their shoulders saying, “you signed it”. The additional $177CAD was not taken into account at all and we also returned the car back a day early as we said we planned but they still charged us for it. We’ve been back and forth with Avis for over two months now trying to get it resolved and they claim they can’t do anything for us. When we call the location specifically they hang up on us. To top it all off, after dropped the car off they had tried to add additional false charges to my credit card for “damage” and “dropping it off at the wrong location”. This is wrong and a company like this should not be in business.
