::My daughter and I stayed at Vida Tropicale earlier this year. We arrived very late because of an ice storm in Houston (!) and very cranky. Randy, the operator, waited up for us, took one look at me, and said, "Oh, you can't stay here." WHAT??? He really had me going for a second, then pointed at my Montreal Canadiens hat and said he was a Leafs fan. All that travel tension just melted away; we laughed and laughed. Everything was lovely: our room and ensuite bathroom were spacious and clean, breakfast was excellent, there are yard bunnies, and Randy was very helpful in booking our shuttle to Puerto Viejo and giving us directions (and walking us part way) to the centre of Alajuela to kill a few hours before we headed out. We stayed again the night before we flew home, and again, everything was great. I totally recommend Vida Tropicale. It's not luxe, but we weren't looking for luxe; although we didn't know it when we booked, Vida Tropicale was exactly what we were looking for. Thank you Randy, and sorry it's taken me so long to write this. I hope to see you in March or April!

::Vida Tropical was a great place to stay. We only stayed a night on our way out of Costa Rica but it was perfect. Our host Randy was quite friendly and knowledgeable on all the questions we asked. All questions sent via email were answered very promptly before and after booking the room. The letter he emailed us with instructions and directions were super helpful. Randy was eager to help when asked but not overbearing. Place felt safe and was very clean. We had a super early flight to catch and he was happy to prepare us a quick bite of breakfast and coffee and he even sent along some snacks for us to enjoy on our travels. Randy also arranged our morning transportation to the airport, just making the whole experience easy and fun. Thanks a bunch Randy!

::We found here the best value for money of our whole trip! The rooms and the place is much nicer than on the pictures. We had a clean room, a private bathroom and a comfy bed. The breakfast is included and outstanding, you even can pick your choice from a menu! Randy, the host, is highly service oriented and gave us great advices on how to get around. I was allowed to hang all my cloths in the garden to dry. However, the best thing was that he even let us use a shower again in the evening when picking up the luggage for the flight after our check-out in the morning. Luggage storage and shower was free! PS: don't miss the home-made peanut butter, it's delicious!
