We visited once travel reopened and were very pleased with our stay. The staff is first-rate and treated us well. The facility was clean and well-appointed. Overall, a great stay. One tip...there is an upgrade available called Preferred CLub. We made the choice to get this and were gratified that we did. An additional dining option is included, plus an additional bar with upgraded liquor choices. We have some mobility issues and the upgrade offered a room without stairs plus a better view. The resort is built into the side of a steep hill. This means walking involves hills and stairs. They provide shuttle buses for getting around if you don't want to walk. The drivers are friendly and helpful. While there is no shortage of food, we found it to be mostly good, but not excellent.

We got back last night and I'm so sad. Our trip to Secrets Papagayo was amazing. We had no issues with check in or service or anything. The only downfall is having to wait for the shuttle. We were in the Panoramic rooms which had amazing views, but the walk was intense so we relied on the shuttles. On our first day, we did the with Rio Celeste tour with Frank The-Tank CR . Our tour guide was Eddy and he made the entire experience amazing. Amstar will try to sell you on them when you get there but go with Frank's tour and ask for Eddy. Not only did we get to swim in waterfalls, hike to Rio Celeste, eat local food, and see sloths and monkeys, he also stopped so many times along the way at food stands and markets so we could really experience Costa Rica. We had so much fun! We also did a 1/2 day Fun in the Sun tour with Pacific Coast Discovery with Eddie and Will. We snorkeled on the only coral reefs in CR but also had a picnic on a beach and got to explore the caves. Ended the day watching the sunset with a group of about 20 dolphins following the boat. As for the resort, we enjoyed the swim up bar, kayaking, walking the rocks on the beach, and the sunset hike with Mere. Definitely check this out because the views are unforgettable. People don't spend enough time on the beach, but it's amazing and the water feels great (just watch out for the sand because it's hot AF) The Covid testing on site was easy, but there was about a 30 minute wait. Make sure to go on and schedule it when you check in instead of having to go back to the front desk to do it later.

Average good all-inclusive resort that has everything you need. What takes it from a 4 to a 5 star is the staff. The staff is OUTSTANDING! Favorite restaurants - Himitsu (innovative wonderful vegan options) and Seaside Grill (the best setting of all the restaurants).

My original review just said "I had no idea it was going to be as great as it was." Since then I have been to quite a few places, and on a couple of cruises. This is the place that I have wished I was at on every vacation I have been on since. This place is amazing for it's relaxed atmosphere, smiling faces, exceptional service and just all around good vibes. I am glad to be going back this summer!!!

Great staff. Painful to be around a resort full of guests too cheap to ever tip. Long wait times at restaurants. We were always at the buffet to eat. Drinks light on the booze. :) Lots of jellyfish in the bay (obviously out of the resort's control) usually too many to swim. Larger pool/lounge area atmosphere like a frat party, with blah tourists everywhere. Resort is not walk-able, and loud, gas fueled carts speed around carting guests late at night. Resort WAS well suited for a large group of 30 wedding guests; three day wedding celebration was fun. But otherwise the stay was entirely overpriced and absolutely void of any substance or cultural experience.
