::We were treated poorly and ripped off to the toon of 600.00 and then told we could not purchase the wifi, ended driving around for 4 hours until we found a cab driver to show us where our hotel was, The clerk John insulted us in Spanish and laughed at us. Gave a map to another city, not for where we were at. We paid for a day we were not even there. I recommend US Citizens run away from this place. He kept giving us ultimatums. It was a living nightmare.

::The low rental price for the car we wanted was a scam. We showed up for the rental and it turned out that we could not have the car unless we paid for their insurance which almost doubled the price of the car. We have excellent personal and credit card car insurance and have never been told we had to purchase extra insurance. We were forced to buy their insurance since after making a couple of calls, we learned that there were no other cars available.

::Absolute thieves. Do not rent here. TI returned my rental vehicle from Economy located in the San Jose airport rental office in Costa Rica this morning at around 3:00 AM this morning due to an early flight time. My rental experience was highly unacceptable, particularly when I returned the vehicle - I will explain. First of all, my actual fees at the beginning of the rental period were more than double the price that I was quoted upon booking my vehicle reservation. I was told that this was due to required insurance. Economy failed to disclose that this insurance was required prior to booking, and despite the fact that I was able to produce a documented letter from my credit card company that covered rental vehicles in Costa Rica, I was still obligated to pay the additional insurance hidden fee. During my six day rental I received a citation for 53,398 colones which is approximately $88 U.S. dollars. When I returned the vehicle early at 3:00 AM this morning prior to my early morning flight, I explained to the attendant what occurred regarding my ticket. His response was to ask to see my credit card that I payed for the vehicle with. When I showed it to him, he charged an amount without explaining and asked me to sign for it. Since I am new to Costa Rica and the currency, I asked what the charge was for and the amount in US dollars. He explained that it was for the ticket and it was about "one to two hundred dollars US". Since I had a flight leaving soon, I took him at his word. A short time later when I was on the shuttle on the way to the airport I converted the amount labeled on my receipt and was shocked to learn that I was instead charged $1,067.28 dollars US! To get clarification on this, I had to take the shuttle back to the counter to ask the attendant what had happened. When I arrived again, he again explained to me not to worry, that this charge included the entire fee for rental, insurance, and now the ticket. He also explained that any fee above that listed, was just a "hold" and would be reimbursed as soon as the ticket would be resolved. I again took him at his word. When I returned home, I checked my credit card statement. And to my dismay, I saw that not only was I charged $529.40 US the original fee for the rental and insurance on the day of the rental, but also the new $1,067.28 fee this morning. I then called the economy customer support line for claification. The phone operator that I was connected to told me that $1,067.28 was not a hold and was the cost of ticket resolution. Remember that this ticket was only $88. Why would the resolution of a ticket cost over 10 times as much as the actual ticket? Furthermore the phone operator could not itemize the fees that accumulated to the $1067.28 total or explain Economy's policy on ticket resolution. When I explained to him that I felt I had been lied to, he said there was nothing he could do, and to email the customer support address.

::I reserve the car in Costa Rica through American Express travel. The car was competitively priced at $12 a day plus taxes. When I arrived at Costa Rica Airport I was informed that auto insurance was $52 a day. This is three times the daily rental rate. What is one to do in a foreign country with deadlines and appointments. I understand insurance charges can be added but three times the rental rate is outragous. I tried to save some money by returning the car one day early well within a 24 hour return time and was informed there are no refunds for early return. In addition I stood online for one hour trying to just return the car. For $67 a day for a midsize car it’s the worst Rental you can find. Not to be trusted. No your fees in total before hand because these guys, when they get you by the balls, don’t relent.

::This company's required insurance is incredibly higher than any other time have rented here. I anticipated the insurance, but their rate was 3x what I paid last time here with another company. They advertise that you pick up your car in the airport which is also untrue. My $84 7 day car turned into over $300. Would highly recommend other companies. Don't be taken advantage of
