::On my recent trip to Costa Rica, we found ourselves at our hotel which was permanently closed. The hotel next door, Arenal Montechiari, agreed to put us up for the night even though they were on a pause from guests due to the pandemic. They cleaned up a room for us quickly and responded promptly to our needs. Daisy was wonderful and her family was very kind. The property was gorgeous and the pool would be great for anyone with limited mobility (there's a ramp into the water). We were very grateful for their hospitality and I would recommend visiting when they're open again with regular capacity.

::Pros: beautiful property, you may see a sloth or iguana in the tree and lots of birds. Cabins are very cute, not as outdated as some reviews state. Hot water and AC. Reception staff are very helpful! 10 min walk to center of town. Cons: WiFi only available in the reception and restaurant. Free breakfast is lackluster but fresh eggs to order.

::Spent 2 nights here as part of a tour. All other lodges have been very welcoming with a very good breakfast. This one sadly isn't one of them, felt like they were doing us a favour. Although the rooms are good, there is no welcombe drink, and the breakfast is poor, and that is if you get cutlery and a cup. They dont even supply cold water during the day, all feels a bit mean compared to others. I wouldnt recommend because of welcome and definately falls short on breakfast.

::If you are on a budget this spot is perfect. Rooms are dated and dark, could use some updating. They embrace the rustic vibe, but that can be maintained even with some upgrades. Property is beautiful, with tons of birds everywhere. The Volcano is in view the whole time you are there.

::5 Star in it's own special way!!! Imagine waiting until 2 days before travel in high season to book 3 rooms for a group of women travelers...wondering if this place would be clean, safe, etc. What a surprise to have a view of the Arenal cone, close to town, bar service, good breakfast, clean cabins with vaulted wooden ceilings, and hot showers/great water pressure and a nice big swimming pool! I highly recommend this low budget hotel!! Suzanne Morgan Wilkins
