Very friendly front desk! They actually care and what's better - pet friendly!! Lovely family owned hotel.

I love Hotel Cortez Azul! The beds are comfortable, and the owners are kind and helpful. They work very hard to make you feel at home. This place is a little paradise in the middle of the hot city. A perfect place to cool off and rest. There are hammocks in the back and you are very close to the market and many restaurants and bars.

Stayed here for one night / 4 hours . We had our flight early morning and decided to stay at this place as it was kind of close to the airport. I was not expecting a whole lot from this place as the previous reviews were not that great, which turned out to be true. We got a tiny room and the beds were decently comfortable. We checked in around 10 pm. There was a lady at the front desk who did not speak english. She checked us in. We could hear people walking around in the lobby from our room. At the end of the day, I did not think the price is right for the value they provided. I had earlier stayed at an airbnb which was 10 min drive from airport , was super clean, big room, had refrigerator , microwave , toaster, plates ,cups and paid $29 for one night. This place had a small room no amenities ( but provided breakfast) and cost us $43.55 for one night including taxes. From the reviews I dont think the breakfast alone bumps the price so high. There were other places were I paid $30 per night with breakfast but with less amenities. My suggestion, lower the price to a more suitable price for what is being offered. Last but not the least, the lady said it was $5 for taxi ( at 3 am ) to airport. We took uber and it was cheaper -1400 colones or under $3.

Double room was very small, had no window and it smelled unpleasant. Too expensive for what you get.

I don't think you would find many places in San Jose with better value for money. Staff are brilliant with nice big clean rooms and a great back garden to chill in a hammock and listen to some parrots! Lucky to have found it
