  Stop here early for a good cup of coffee (not everyone makes good coffee around here), and to sample many of the local chocolates before you buy in bulk. The chocolates vary significantly. One local producer apparently thinks Che is a hero so it’s a good one to avoid. I loved the Caribbean chocolate and went on their tour.

  A friend and I wandered into Choco and ended up doing a beer and wine pairing. Although the products were very good I want to specifically thank the young lady who was working at the shop. She was a wealth of knowledge and was so interesting to talk to. I missed her name but she has worked there for years. During our pairing we shared with her that we were looking to try a new food every day. She made a list for us of local foods that were specific to the region. She shared many other suggestions that helped make our stay in Puerto Viejo a wonderful experience. To run a great business you need the right employees. The pairing itself was a great experience and a fun way to learn about local chocolet makers.

  Choco is a "must visit" when you are in Puerto Viejo. I recommend the chocolate sampler with a cup of coffee. This way you can sample all of the local chocolate that they make within walking distance. Make sure to buy a few bars of your favorite since you will not be able to get these chocolates anyware else in the world. 😀

  Great chocolate store! They have a big selection of different and very tasty chocolate. You find a lot of information about the different farms which produce the products. I have visited the store several times in the past few weeks. Very nice and friendly staff! Keep it up!

  I can’t say enough good things about this place, an above and beyond pleasant experience from the moment you open the door. The local has refreshing air conditioning, a very appealing and informative display of the chocolates, delicious aromas and welcoming hosts. We tried a variety of chocolates and all the beers, everything was delicious. The both the gentleman working were extremely attentive and informative. We loved how much they value and honor the locals who source their high quality chocolates. We would’ve liked to come in everyday! Stop by and support this great shop, you won’t be sorry!
