::Decent 4x4, 20% lower cost than the name agencies, 100% transparent pricing and no BS conditions or extras. (Plus the pleasure of dealing with the very small team that runs this show.) That works for us. Having been ripped off recently by misleading pricing on a rental in Mexico, I approached our Costa Rica trip VERY cautiously. Tricolor was one of the local companies that came recommended and Claus was straightforward to deal with and very helpful. OK so the car was not shiny new (it had 133k kms on it) but who cares? (plus, we only booked about 1 week in advance and so this was their absolute last 4x4. I wasn't going to complain.) it was clean, ran well and handled the rough roads. also Claus and his son guided us through using our credit card CDW. they don't try to nickel and dime you. Now, if you aren't careful and abuse the car and park it illegally and get the car impounded, well then, is that really anyone's fault but your own? It was just nice to deal with real people instead of some meganational car rental behemoth. We'll use Tricolor again for sure.

::I have been using Tricolor Car Rentals for 3 years, exclusively. The quality of care and service are surpassed by none. I moved to CR 3 years ago...i went through the obligatory nightmares with several rental care agencies before stumbling onto Jackie at the downtown office. Her sincereity, honesty and warm heart kept me coming back... Then i started interacting almost entirely with Claus and his wonderful staff at the Alajuela/ Airport branch. These guys take such good care of me time after time. Their big smiles greet me every time i fly in. Their professionalism, personal warmth, attention to detail with respect and courtesy have developed into genuine friendships with them all. Do not look any further. Your search for the best local Rental Car Company is over. Tricolor is the best one in the country. Wonderful selection, Price, quality and attention to detail in customer needs is beyond compare.

::We used tricolor and loved them! They were incredibly responsive, patient, were able to speak English to help with the language barrier, and I felt very happy with their service and the vehicle provided! They dropped the car off at our place in Samara on the Pacific coast, and picked up the car at the Liberia airport where we dropped it off. I highly suggest this company for anyone, and just because you aren't in San Jose, doesn't mean you can't use them!! This was truly a door to door service with reasonable prices (very competitive with the 3 other rental companies I compared them to)

::This is the only car rental company I use in Costa Rica. The rates are very reasonable and the staff are more than accommodating. They make renting a vehicle easy. They will pick you up and drop you at the airport. Tell Claus I sent you!! 😊

::This is a great Costa Rican car rental company. Claus and his team are super responsive, professional, friendly, and honest. Had no problems and the 4x4 Be Go was great. Will definitely go with them again when I go back. Better price than most also
