::Getting a rental car was easier than i expected. It is also much cheaper than at the airport. The cherk was very thorough and explain everything to me. The vehicle was easy to learn and was good on gas also. Driving in Costa Rica is much slower than in USA 🇺🇸 the view is very green.

::Can't rent with a debit/credit card. Credit card only. Super complicated process. Extra fees they don't really explain. Had to pay cash upon return but they didn't have any change.

::Run!!! We rented a vehicle and had them inspect the entire vehicle and document the damage that was already there when we rented it. They tried to charge us for damage. Absolutely nothing happened to this vehicle when it was in our possession. They then had us pay in cash would not accept a debit or credit card. Asditionally, they told us we had to pay the exact amount because they didnt have any change. I dont know if they treat locals like this or just American tourists but this was a terrible experience.

::From now on Budget will be my go to renta car when in Costa Rica regardless if their price higher than others. I had bad experiences with other rent a car agencies like stupidity and none senescence. Ie economy rent a car which is a no no.

::Booked direct online. Rental was cheap so opted for LDW which was considerably more than the cost of the car but acceptable, only to find no 3rd party insurance included either so ended up paying 6 times the cost of the rental on insurance for just 3 days. To make matters worse the Toyota RAV4 4WD booked wasn’t available and I was offered what can only be described as jalloppy from the 90’s. “It’ll go anywhere” the guy said. It didn’t make it up the first gravel hill. The automatic gear box shifted like a bus and sounded like one too. On return the service was brusque, not a single thank you or goodbye. Avoid at all costs.
