  BEWARE of New Smile and Dr. Bonilla. They lure patients with low prices and then provide shoddy work with substandard materials. I should have known that their prices were too good to be true. But I needed to save money, so I chose New Smile. I have regretted it every day since. I have returned back three times and my whole mouth of teeth are simply eroding and I cannot do anything about it. I feel so stupid, especially since there are so many other good clinics in Costa Rica.

  I had made an appointment with another dentist in Costa Rica first who flaked on me at the last minute. New Smile gave me a last minute appointment and did a great job cleaning my teeth and performing the exam. They were very clean and used lots of gloves and autoclave color packs which turn colored when they are exposed to air, so that you are ensured sterility. All in all a good experience!

  After getting an estimate in the states for over $22,000, and after researching Dental Tourism, we decided to give New Smile a visit. What an amazing experience from start to finish. First of all Melena handled our appointment and gave us all the information regarding their services and prices for according to the estimate we sent her from the US dentist. She gave us recommendations for hotels and directions on who would pick us up at the airport. Concierge service is provided free of charge. They provide pickup and drop-off at airport and all appointments. We chose a hotel close to clinic (Tryp) and to our delight it was a 2 block walk to the clinic. Upon arrival,they greeted us at the door and Roberta held our hand throughput the entire process. She spoke fluent English as did our dentist Dr. Andrea Roth. After 3 D x-rays we were escorted to Dr. Roth who patiently explained what needed done. To our surprise, half of the work DID NOT need done..those teeth were fine! I had a bridge that some decay had gotten under the back tooth...the US dentist said the tooth COULD NOT be saved and they wanted to extract it and do 2 implants. Dr. Roth said it could absolutely be saved with a root canal and a new bridge ! The total cost of 2 root canals and a new bridge cost $1,400...2 implants in the US along with an extraction and bone build up would have cost $10,000......what???? They were very gentle and very little pain at all !! Wonderful experience !! I had the root canals on monday...crown preps on Tuesday and permanent placement on Friday. Had another crown as well. My husband got a new bridge and total g or both of us was $3,400 !! US dentists,are a rip off and ruin perfectly good teeth. It's all about the money !!!!!! Did I mention how friendly the Costa Rican people are ? And helpful? Breakfast included at the TRYP was a beautiful buffet with made to order omelets and waffles...fresh fruit...etc...all for $92 a night...Premium King Suite with 50 inch flat screen..very modern. Can also walk to downtown,museums and Sabana Park ! Go see New Smile and beautiful Costa Rica, you will not be sorry!

  first time patient I would give it 5 star. After 3 clinics in Florida of estimates $12,000 to $15,000 "saying" I needed teeth pulled and implants I saw 3 clinics in San Josa and they all agree they are crazy in Florida. Two of the clinics in San Jose sent me to NEW SMILE for the services they don't do. So I just stayed with NEW SMILE Clinic. I never saw such a well established clinic in the US. Clean, extremely professional, and all of the latest technology and equipment. They did all I needed for $2100.00. I got back to Florida and I lost a totally different crown. In Florida it would have been $1100.00. At NEW SMILE a post and crown for $325.00. All done within the NEW SMILE CLINIC. They have it all. It was worth another trip to NEW SMILE for the one crown. (and they even send a driver to pick you up at the airport and local hotels.)
