  Great restaurant! Just off the main road in town, nice variety! Family has vegetarians, carnivores and everyone in between and there was something for all of us. Mixed drinks were great and strong; pleasant music and reasonable pricing. Owner very friendly and seeks to make sure you’re contented. Would recommend to any and everyone in town; would return in a heart beat.

  Both the service and the food at this quaint place were amazing. The owners were very friendly. Our table ordered the mango pesto salad, fish tacos, and the falafel. The ingredients were fresh and unique. Everyone enjoyed their meal and vowed to return. It is in the center of town and directly across from the Saturday morning local produce market.

  Really one of the best places one can eat in puerto viejo. I ate at a lot of different restaurants here but went 3 times to Flip flop not only because of the great food (which you will really enjoy if you like fresh fish or in the weekends grilled fish and meat) but also because of the excellent service and hospitality!! Definitely gonna come back when I visit Puerto Viejo again!

  AMAZING! We were walking down the side streets and found this restaurant. The owner showed us the menu and we were like ‘why not’. He was not pushy, very friendly and taking great care of his customers. The food was amazing too! I chose the fresh tuna steak and my friend a Buddha bowl. No regrets. You should go here! :-)

  We went to flip flop after walking several times passed it and reading reviews on trip advisor. Us too met Carrie, and loved everything about her restaurant! Carrie is a lovely Canadian lady who decided to move to Puerto Viejo and open a restaurant - very brave! She is such a sweet and caring person, making sure everyone has a good time and is enjoying their meal. The food was delicious, I had a Buddha bowl with quinoa, cabbage, chicken, veggies, and the tasty avocado sauce. My boyfriend had the alfresco pastas with shrimps and was thrilled with his choice too. We highly recommend flip flop to anyone stopping by Puerto Viejo during their trip to Costa Rica!
